Westcotes Weekly Update
Officers from the Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Area have continued carrying out proactive patrols and community engagement activity across the ward over the past week.
During patrols cannabis was seized and dealt with appropriately as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour within the community.
Officers also seized a vehicle after checks revealed the driver was using the vehicle without valid insurance. Driving without insurance places other road users at risk and officers will continue to take robust action against those committing offences on our roads.
Community engagement remains a key priority for the local policing team. PCSO Zed and PCSO Mark held a Beat Surgery at the Salvation Army, where residents had the opportunity to discuss local concerns, receive crime prevention advice and speak directly with their local officers. A further Beat Surgery was also held at Norfolk Street Police Station to provide additional opportunities for members of the community to engage with the neighbourhood team.
With increased footfall and activity linked to the World Cup fixtures, officers have also been conducting high-visibility patrols within the city centre to help ensure people can enjoy the events safely. Patrols have focused on reassurance, preventing anti-social behaviour and responding quickly to incidents where required.
We would also like to remind the public that major sporting events can sometimes coincide with a rise in domestic abuse incidents, often linked to heightened emotions and alcohol consumption. Domestic abuse can affect anyone and support is available. If you are concerned for your own safety or the safety of someone else, please report it. In an emergency always call 999.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support and engage positively with your local neighbourhood policing team.
